Groundwell Ridge

3j-groundwell2Groundwell Ridge, right in the middle of the North Side development, is a site of considerable archaeological interest. It was described by English Heritage asĀ ‘one of the most important Roman finds in England’.


When developers started building at Abbey Meads, walls from Roman buildings were uncovered, so SBC and English Heritage worked to secure the site. As a result, an archaeological dig was started in 2004, unearthing some valuable remains. Read the whole story at Swindon Web.
